Local
Area
Once you leave
the farm, there are a wealth of places to visit and things to do.
Within the village of Woodmancote, we have a Newsagent, Post Office,
Local Pub and Restaurant, all within walking distance.
Cleeve Hill
(a short walk away, or a two minute drive) is linked to the village
by three steep lanes, Bushcombe, Stockwell, and GAMBLES. These were
originally used to take livestock up and down the hill for summer
grazing and later to transport stone from the Cleeve Hill quarries
to the Honeybourne Line railway station.
You can take
a walk over Cleeve Hill with its large expanse of common land. Supported
by a variety of wildlife. Foxes and rabbits abound. Woodpeckers,
Grey Wagtails, and Long Tailed Tits flourish. In winter flocks of
Redwing and Fieldfare often visit. In summer, Stonechats, Skylarks
and Swifts nest on Cleeve Common and you'll see orchids, rose rock
and many other downland plants there. Summer also brings Martins
and Swallows, which gather at Woodmancote for their winter migration.
Cleeve Hill
is the highest in the Cotswolds, providing breathtaking views of
the surrounding countryside. It also boasts an 18 hole golf course.
